Introduction to IWoDSA

The Indigenous Women Development Service of Africa (IWoDSA) is a women-led, Christian-based non-governmental organization committed to empowering indigenous Christian women and girls across Eastern Africa. Established in 2018, IWoDSA focuses on promoting gender equality, self-reliance, and sustainable development by providing programs in education, health, leadership, and cultural preservation.

Through advocacy and mentorship, IWoDSA helps women and girls overcome barriers to success, empowering them to become leaders in their communities and agents of positive change.

Empowering Indigenous Christian Women, Girls, and Elderly Women in Eastern Africa

We promote empowerment through education, protection, livelihood opportunities, leadership mentorship, and family life education. Our mission fosters dignity, equity, and self-reliance, enabling marginalized populations to become agents of change in their communities.

Our Key Program Areas

IWoDSA's programs focus on empowering women and girls by addressing some of the most pressing issues they face. Through our seven core pillars, we aim to build resilient communities where women and girls have the resources, knowledge, and support to thrive.

Spiritual and Family Life Education

IWoDSA promotes spiritual growth and family life education to nurture emotional well-being, resilience, and harmonious communities. By equipping women and girls with conflict resolution skills and values-based education, we empower them to build strong families and balanced lifestyles that foster empowerment and wellness.

Success Stories in Kenya

Through our programs, we've seen countless women and girls break barriers, overcome obstacles, and reach new heights in their personal, social, and economic lives. Here are some of the impactful stories that highlight the difference we're making in Kenya's communities.

Empowering a Young Leader

Kisumu County

Mary, a young woman from a rural area in Kisumu County, faced significant barriers to education due to financial constraints. Through IWoDSA's Education Sponsorship program, Mary was able to attend school and complete her studies. Over time, she became an active leader in her community, advocating for women's rights and education.

Today, Mary is not only a role model for other girls in Kisumu but also holds a leadership position in a local youth organization. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of education, and how IWoDSA's support has empowered her to drive positive change in her community.

Revitalizing Family Relationships

Kakamega County

Sarah, a mother of three from Kakamega County, struggled with family conflicts and lacked emotional support. After attending IWoDSA's Spiritual and Family Life Education program, Sarah learned essential life skills such as conflict resolution, emotional well-being, and how to nurture a healthy family environment.

Through the program, Sarah was able to rebuild her relationship with her husband and children, creating a more peaceful and supportive home. Sarah now actively participates in local workshops, sharing her journey with other women in Kakamega and helping them strengthen their family bonds.

Breaking Barriers in Leadership

Nairobi County

Rebecca, an indigenous Christian woman from Nairobi County, always felt her voice was not valued within her church and community. IWoDSA's Women's Voice and Leadership program helped Rebecca gain confidence and leadership skills through mentorship and training.

She now holds a leadership position in her local church, advocating for the rights of women and girls and supporting the development of programs that benefit the entire community. Her rise to leadership has inspired many other women in Nairobi to take on roles that were traditionally reserved for men.

Building Sustainable Livelihoods

Turkana County

Amina, an elderly woman from Turkana County, struggled to provide for her family due to limited access to economic opportunities. IWoDSA's Livelihood Empowerment program helped Amina develop her skills in tailoring and provided her with a microloan to start her own business.

With hard work and determination, Amina's business flourished, and she is now able to support her family and contribute to her community. Amina's story shows the power of economic empowerment and how IWoDSA's support can uplift marginalized women and create lasting change in their communities.
